Fabian Diaz

Dr. Fabian Diaz is LCA Lead at Eurovent Certification, where he leads the technical development and application of life cycle assessment (LCA) methodologies and supports HVACR manufacturers in implementing environmental assessment frameworks. His work includes developing LCA rules, supporting ecolabel criteria, delivering LCA training, and guiding companies on European regulatory developments including the Construction Products Regulation, Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation, and Energy Performance of Buildings Directive, as well as emerging digital frameworks such as Digital Declarations of Performance and Digital Product Passports.

He has a decade of experience in the energy sector and another decade of experience in sustainability engineering, specializing in life cycle assessment, carbon footprinting, and Environmental Product Declarations for the construction and industrial sectors. He also holds a doctoral degree in Environmental Engineering with emphasis in life cycle sustainability assessment.

Jeff Zeman

Jeff Zeman is an accomplished Sustainable Design Engineer and Strategist who partners with leaders in product and process development to achieve authentic, brand-supporting outcomes without compromise. Over two decades he led development and deployment of stainability strategy and programming with manufacturing operations and product development for Kohler Company, a multibillion-dollar global brand of kitchen and bath products, power solutions, and hospitality experiences. In 2020, together with his former Kohler teammates, Jeff co-founded TrueNorth Collective as a full-service product and process sustainability consultancy serving as its Principal.

Lindita Bushi

Lindita Bushi is Athena Institute’s principal LCA consultant. She holds a doctoral engineering degree in life cycle assessment and has over 20 years of international LCA experience. She has conducted numerous ISO 14044 conformance LCAs to drive and determine the sustainability benefits of industrial processes, products and services. Her LCA experience extends to many sectors (metals, building, automotive, chemicals, recycling, electronics and transport). She has extensive multi-national experience working with industrial clients, academia, and joint government-industry programs.

Thomas Gloria

Dr. Gloria is Managing Director of Industrial Ecology Consultants LLC and the former Director of the Sustainability and Global Development Practice Programs at Harvard University. He has more than 30 years of professional experience in sustainability management consulting and information technology engineering design. His work encompasses product innovation; environmental life cycle assessment (LCA) and life cycle management (LCM); methods and policy implications regarding greenhouse gas emissions inventories; and energy efficiency feasibility analysis.

Mariya Verovko, Lead Software Engineer

Mariya Verovko is the Lead Software Engineer for Smart EPD. With over ten years of industry experience, she has successfully designed, developed, and maintained a wide range of software solutions, demonstrating adaptability and agility to meet the complex needs of modern applications. Her proficiency in the end-to-end development processes combined with a strategic mindset enables her to tackle complex issues and contribute to the success of multifaceted Smart EPD initiatives.

Mariya holds an MSc in Computer Science from Wrexham University UK, an MSc in System Programming, and a PhD in Informational Technologies from the Cherhiniv University of Technology.

Tavia Reagan, Accounting and Operations Assistant

Tavia Reagan is the Accounting and Operations Assistant for Smart EPD, specializing in operations and management. She has gained extensive experience working as Executive Assistant for a large Commercial Real Estate firm as well as a Fortune 500 company, where she played a vital role in supporting high-level executives. Tavia excels at optimizing time management by efficiently managing schedules, coordinating meetings, and streamlining daily operations. Her expertise also extends to event planning, where she has organized a variety of large corporate events, ensuring every detail aligns with company goals. Tavia is adept at building and maintaining relationships with partners, effectively communicating across all levels to ensure seamless operations and business success.

Tavia holds a B.S degree in Business and Engineering from Brigham Young University Idaho.

Margot Koenig, Strategic Operations Manager

Margot started her journey with Smart EPD in August of 2024 as a Product Sustainability Specialist where she focused facilitating EPD verification and supporting PCR development. Her background as a Compliance Officer with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality provided Margot with the necessary skills for interpreting and ensuring compliance with governing standards, allowing a seamless transition to this role. In July of 2025 Margot started her new role as the Strategic Operations Manager where she oversees overall operations and strategizes areas for improved efficiency and client satisfaction.

Margot graduated from Ohio State University with a B.S. in Environment and Natural Resources, specializing in Business and Sustainability. Margot is continuously motivated by emerging sustainability trends, which prompted her enrollment in Cornell’s Sustainable Business certificate program. Through Margot’s continuous education, she dissected businesses’ most pressing sustainability challenges and innovated unique solutions through LCAs, ESG reporting and other relevant matrices.

Milena Rangelov, Director of Standards and Innovation

Dr. Milena Rangelov is a sustainability and life cycle assessment (LCA) expert with over a decade of experience advancing data-driven decarbonization and sustainability initiatives. She led product- and company-level environmental footprint efforts for Fortune 500 companies, federal agencies, and mission-driven organizations, translating complex data into actionable insights. Her work spanned across the sectors, including construction, packaging, transportation, electronics, and agriculture. She developed digital and AI-powered tools to enhance the robustness and scalability of LCA. Milena’s portfolio includes collaborations with organizations such as Walmart, ThermoFisher, General Mills, General Motors, and the U.S. Department of Transportation. With deep expertise in ISO standards, PCR/EPD development, and Buy Clean initiatives, she helped shape federal sustainability programs that advanced the Biden-Harris Administration’s green public procurement goals.

Milena holds a Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering from Washington State University, as well as B.S. and M.S. degrees in Civil Engineering from the University of Belgrade.

Nicole Meyer, Director of Sales and Education

Nicole Meyer is the Director of Sales and Education at Smart EPD. With nearly ten years of experience in sustainability education and consulting, she has supported organizations across a broad range of industry sectors to manage and implement key aspects of their sustainability programs. Nicole is a life cycle assessment certified professional (LCACP) with experience in life cycle assessment (LCA), product carbon footprint (PCF), environmental product declarations (EPDs), and product category rules (PCRs). In 2024, Nicole was a recipient of the Infrastructure Masons IM100 award which recognizes individuals making impactful contributions within the digital infrastructure sector.

Nicole holds a Master of Science in Sustainable Engineering from Villanova University and Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Matt Memic, Chief Financial Officer

Matt Memic is Smart EPD’s CFO, supporting the company’s financial strategy and day-to-day financial operations as the organization scales. He works with leadership on forecasting, budgeting, and reporting to ensure Smart EPD maintains strong financial discipline while expanding its platform and services.

With experience guiding growing organizations through operational and financial planning, Matt helps translate strategic priorities into clear financial models and decision-ready insights that support sustainable growth.

Alex Duvall, Chief Technology Officer

Alex is a technology and data systems leader with over 10 years of experience building and growing digital platforms that support sustainability, standards-driven reporting, and complex data workflows. As Chief Technology Officer at Smart EPD, he leads the development of the company’s technology and product infrastructure, enabling transparent and credible Environmental Product Declarations at scale.

Alex has led the design and delivery of data-intensive, user-centered platforms that translate evolving standards, regulatory requirements, and stakeholder needs into reliable digital solutions. His work spans platform architecture, data modeling, data governance, system interoperability, and product innovation. Prior to joining Smart EPD, Alex held senior technology leadership roles where he built and scaled enterprise and SaaS platforms supporting financial, healthcare, energy, and sustainability applications. His experience positions him to bridge technical execution with strategic growth as Smart EPD expands its impact.

Anna Lasso, Founder + CEO

As the founder of Smart EPD, Anna Lasso’s passion and focus centers around developing innovative ways to consistently disclose the environmental impacts of products in a credible, streamlined, and universally understood manner. Anna has provided transparency, sustainability and operations consulting services for 15+ years, led North America’s largest EPD Program at UL for close to a decade, and is a Life Cycle Assessment Certified Professional (LCACP). Prior to Smart EPD, Anna worked as Digital Program Manager at Building Transparency, the creators of the Embodied Carbon in Construction Calculator (EC3) with a repository of 100K+ EPDs. With her experience in program management, product development, management consulting at Deloitte, and standards development, her background positions her to translate strategic initiatives into scalable business solutions that drive climate change and environmental policy.

Anna has MS degrees in Technology Policy and Mechanical Engineering from MIT and BS degrees in Industrial Design and Industrial Engineering from North Carolina State University.
