Product Manager

About the role

We’re hiring our first dedicated Product Manager. You will own product management for the Smart EPD platform end to end, including shaping the roadmap, defining requirements, prioritizing what gets built, and coordinating the internal and external stakeholders (customers, verifiers, and engineering) whose needs the platform serves.

Because we’re a small company, the role is broader than platform product management alone. You will also lead the overhaul of Smart EPD’s internal operations, processes, and workflows, making the way we work more efficient, scalable, and better coordinated across functions, and guide the redesign and improvement of the platform’s user interface and user experience. Think of it as product management for both the product our customers use and the operating system our team runs on.

You’ll work directly with the CEO and CTO, with high ownership and short decision loops. The right person is comfortable moving between strategy and execution in the same week: talking to a customer in the morning, writing requirements in the afternoon, and unblocking an operational bottleneck before the day ends. Come with the desire to learn how software gets built and shipped, and you’ll make the code changes yourself, writing your expertise directly into the product.

What you will do

Product management for the Smart EPD platform

• Own and drive the product roadmap for the Smart EPD platform, translating company strategy, customer insight, and standards requirements into a prioritized plan.
• Define requirements: write clear product specs and user stories in enough detail that engineering can build without guessing at intent.
• Prioritize ruthlessly across competing needs — customer requests, verifier workflows, PCR program requirements, and technical debt — and make the trade-offs explicit.
• Coordinate internal and external stakeholders: run the loop between customers, verifiers, PCR programs, and the engineering team so the right things get built in the right order.
• Conduct ongoing discovery: talk to manufacturers, LCA consultants, tool developers, and verifiers to uncover and validate user problems before we commit to solutions.
• Use data to guide decisions: define and track the metrics that tell us whether features are working, and feed what we learn back into the roadmap.
• Lead iterative delivery: define acceptance criteria, participate in QA and release verification, and drive product launches from spec through ship.

Internal operations & process

• Lead the overhaul of Smart EPD’s internal operations, processes, and workflows to improve efficiency, scalability, and cross-functional coordination.
• Map how work actually flows across verification, sales, and engineering; find the bottlenecks and fix them.
• Build lightweight, durable processes and tooling that let a small team operate like a bigger one — without adding bureaucracy.
• Provide related advisory, planning, and implementation support across the company as priorities evolve.

UI / UX

• Guide the redesign and improvement of the Smart EPD platform’s user interface and user experience.
• Champion the user’s perspective: turn what we hear from manufacturers, consultants, and verifiers into concrete design direction.
• Partner with engineering on design decisions, reviewing implemented behavior against intent and iterating based on real usage.

Qualifications

Required

• 3–5+ years of product management experience, ideally with B2B SaaS products.
• Track record of owning a roadmap: gathering input, defining requirements, prioritizing, and shipping.
• Experience improving internal operations or business processes, not just product features.
• Strong product sense for UI/UX — able to give concrete, actionable design direction and evaluate what ships against it.
• Excellent written communication. You’ll be writing specs, process docs, and customer-facing explanations.
• Comfortable working directly with customers and external partners.
• Analytical and data-driven: you use metrics to decide, not just to report.
• Experience working in agile environments with modern product tools (e.g. Linear, Jira, Notion, product analytics).
• Fluent in English; based in the US or within US-compatible time zones.

Preferred

• Experience in sustainability, climate tech, LCA/EPD, compliance, or another standards-driven domain.
• Early-stage startup experience — comfortable being the first PM and building the function from scratch.
• Technical fluency: able to engage with data models, APIs, and engineering trade-offs (you don’t need to code).
• Familiarity with AI-based tools like Claude Code and an interest in AI-assisted workflows.
• Experience with UX research or working closely with designers.

Job structure

• Full-time, fully remote position.
• Reporting directly to our CEO, working across engineering, operations, and business development.
• Salary discussed upon interviewing.
